Taffy

Pretty little Taffy considers herself a modern girl with some old-fashioned personality quirks. She collections vinyl music, among other things, and believes the sound it produce is much better than electronically produced music. She likes to play darts and other pub games while spending time in bars — the seedier, the better.

The fact that Taffy loves bars and pubs is something she says her boyfriends and other friends have always found somewhat amusing. “I love to go to bars,” she says. “It’s not that I’m an alcoholic, or anything. I mean, I like to drink. I’m not someone who abstains or is on a twelve-step program or anything. I just love the atmosphere of a good bar. The seedier it is, the better. You know when you walk into a dark, dank bar, and you just get a face full of that incredible atmosphere, when the bar is so dark and grimy and yet very inviting? I love how a seedy pub or bar feels. I can’t imagine ever wanting to go to a sports bar. They’re way to clean, they’re way to bright, and they’re way too pleasant. A bar should be the kind of place where you’re never completely comfortable. You should always feel like you’ve got to be on your toes. It’s like this portal to adventure. You know in stories, fantasy stories, where the characters meet in a dark tavern just before they go off to have adventures? I want a bar that makes me feel like that. I want a bar that makes me feel like I’m about to go off and have an adventure, like I could meet wizards and swordsmen and magical creatures. I know that probably sounds silly, but it’s how I feel.”

Taffy revels in the many different parts of her personality that people find old-fashioned or quirky. “I know I’m an unusual girl with unusual ideas,” she says. “I think that’s part of what makes me so much fun. Guys see that I’m not the ordinary. I’m not what they’re used to. I love being a New York escort because it gives me the chance to meet new people all the time. The average guy is tired of the same old thing. He’s done the dating scene. He’s seen the kinds of girls he’s likely to meet again a hundred times. He knows that there’s really nothing new under the sun. But with me, he’s got a chance to do something different. He’s got a chance to meet someone new. I have an unusual personality, and I think it’s a lot of fun. I think the people who go out with me think it’s a lot of fun too. At least, I hope so. I’ve always worked hard to make sure that people like and enjoy me. They want to be with me. They want to spend time with me. But that’s also because I’m unique. At least, I think so. I mean, I suppose I might not be the most objective source on the topic. Now you’re making me blush.”

Taffy goes on, “People don’t believe me when I tell them I can hear the difference between CDs or MP3s and vinyl records. I remember when I first discovered vinyl records. I mean, I’m young enough that they weren’t a thing when I was a kid. So when I discovered that they weren’t new, that it was an old thing that people kind of forgot about or left behind, I was astonished that they were making a comeback. You see vinyl in bookstores now, places you wouldn’t expect to see it. But the reason it’s making a comeback is the reason it was so great in the first place. The sound quality is so much more rich. I can’t stand the way electronic compression changes how things sound. Most of the time most people don’t notice that. I notice, it though. I know my friends think I’m crazy, but I insist on having a nice quality record player, and all my favorite music I keep on vinyl. In fact, when I find a record I really like, I buy it twice, just in case I scratch it. That’s definitely the downside to vinyl. It’s just so fragile!”

Taffy likens vinyl records to women she has known. “I think girls like me, beautiful girls who enjoy the company of men and enjoy getting to know our clients as New York escorts, I think we tend to be a little fragile, you know? We’re… we’re just like that. You’ve got to handle us with care. You’ve got to be gentle with us. You’ve got to keep us well maintained. But if you do, when it’s time to play, when you’re ready to have fun, then we’ll give you the full experience, baby. We’ll show you what you’ve been waiting for. We’ll show you that all that time and effort and care was well worth it. Doesn’t that sound like fun? Doesn’t that seem like something you would like to have? Uh… I’m not sure I’m still talking about records. Just go with it.”

Taffy is particularly good at darts and has spent many hours honing her skills. “I remember the first time I played darts. It was with my uncle, on a board my father kept at home. I was amazed at how good he was. He could hit any number you called out, and he could get a bull’s-eye almost any time he wanted to. I asked him how he got so good at playing darts, and he admitted that he had spent his younger years in a lot of bars and pubs. Something about that statement stuck with me, so I always wanted to go out to a bar and try it. You can imagine, looking like I do, I got a lot of attention the first time I went into a pub and asked someone to play darts with me. They lined up pretty fast then.”
